Step by Step: Lync 2013 Databases Failover (Pool, CMS,Monitoring)



Current Mirroring Status

On Lync server 2013 PowerShell, run " Get-CsService –CentralManagement" to see the status of central management store mirroring status.

And, run Get-CsDatabaseMirrorState –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN to get the mirroring status of the pool and monitoring databases.

Failing over to Mirror SQL Server

You need to run following commands on Lync front end PowerShell to failover all databases.

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType User –NewPrincipal mirror

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType App –NewPrincipal mirror

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType CentralMgmt –NewPrincipal mirror

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType Monitoring –NewPrincipal mirror

After all commands have been executed, take a look at the SQL node again and see that the mirror node now has the active databases.

Failing back to Primary SQL Server

When the primary server is available to act as a primary, run the following commands on Lync front end server PowerShell;

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType User –NewPrincipal primary

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType App –NewPrincipal primary

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType CentralMgmt –NewPrincipal primary

Invoke-CsDatabaseFailover –PoolFQDN Lync_2013_Pool_FQDN –DatabaseType Monitoring –NewPrincipal primary
