Lync 2013 Monitoring Server URL Access Issues

Problem : Prompt for user name and password in Internet Explorer (IE)

Statement : After installing SQL 2008 R2 or SQL 2012 reporting services, you try to access the URL and get prompted for user id and password. You get constantly prompted with Windows Security dialog box to enter login details.

Resolution :

  • Open Internet Explorer (IE9) and from the tools menu, choose Internet Options:
  • From the Security Tab, choose Local intranet and click on Sites:
  • Click on Advanced button
  • Type in localhost in “Add this website to this zone” text field and click on Add button
  • Un-check the box Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone
  • Click "Close".

Problem and statement : You may encounter another problem after resolving above problem. You may get following error when you try to access reporting web page again.

User 'Domain_name\User_ID' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.

Resolution:

Open Internet Explorer (IE) as an administrator. (Right Click and choose Run as administrator)

Enter the Reporting Services URL: http://localhost/Reports_SQLExpress

Running as administrator will allow you to have access to Site Settings . Click on it:

You will see the General option on site settings page.

Click on Security from the left side menu and choose New Role Assignment.

Add the username or Group that you want to grant permission to and select the appropriate role:

On the home page, click on Folder Settings. Add the username or Active Directory group that you want to grant permission to the main Home page.

This should resolve the UAC error you were encountering. :) Have Fun!!!
