Features not supported if Skype For Business (SFB) online integrated with Microsoft Exchange on-premise



Microsoft does support integration between SFB online and Exchange on premise setup. However, there are some caveats to it. There are features which are not supported under this arrangement.

Presence in Outlook Web App

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment.


Respond via IM, PSTN Call, Skype Call or Video Call from an OWA email

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment.

Schedule and join online meetings through Outlook Web App

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment.

Contact List (via Unified Contact Store)

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment.

High-resolution Contact Photo

It requires Lync 2013 or Skype for Business clients at a minimum. Not supported for LWA, mobile apps, Lync 2010, Lync for Mac, and other older clients. This feature is supported only if you have Exchange 2013 (not supported if Exchange 2010).

Archiving Content (IM and Meeting) in Exchange

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment.

Search archived content

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment.

Exchange UM Voice Mail

This feature is not supported with either Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 on-premise deployment. Supported with hosted Exchange UM.
