Microsoft Teams – As a Collaboration Hub for Teamwork

Satya Nadella kick started key note (first day at Microsoft Ignite) with a powerful pitch of “Microsoft Teams” out of many great apps that Microsoft has been working on. It displays the commitment and intent of Microsoft as far as “Teams” is concerned.

Microsoft aims to enhance modern collaboration and effective teamwork with Microsoft Teams. Goes without saying that this would improve employee engagement and empowerment. I am using Microsoft Teams since few days and my experience of team collaboration has gone multi notch up compared to when I was using skype for business client.

“With increasing digitization, where every part of our society and economy has been fundamentally transformed because of digital technology, the opportunity is greater than ever before.” : Satya Nadella

At Ignite 2017, day 1, Lori Wright (GM-Microsoft Teams & Skype) announced that Microsoft Teams would become the core communications client for office 365 customers. It would bring in next wave of digital transformation by empowering employees or end users as it would help them collaborate with internal and external users in way more collaborative manner.

It's been officially confirmed by Microsoft that Microsoft Teams would evolve as single client for communications for office 365 users. There is no plan to stop supporting skype for Business (online) client as of now. But, gradually, Organizations would start realizing increasing value of Microsoft Teams over Skype for Business (online). Thus, leading to mass migration of SfB online client to Microsoft Teams client.
