New Release in Microsoft Teams - January 2020

January 28, 2020: Read Receipt

MS Teams is not going to replace email service completely. However, it’s already reducing the usage of email service in an organization. It can still do better, if it’s enabled with some of the critical email features that outlook provides to its users. Read receipt is one of them. Those users, using read receipt feature of outlook, have something to cheer for.

Read receipts! Now, when you send a message to someone in Microsoft Teams, you'll get a Seenconfirmation to the right of the message. By default, read receipts will turn on for everyone and will show in group chats with up to 20 members. However, an admin can decide whether a user have this feature and the ability to turn it off.

January 17, 2020: Windows Server gets the desktop app

Teams desktop app is now supported and available for machines operating Windows Server (versions 2012 R2 and later). IT engineers or users working on server OS would love it!

January 10, 2020: Say hello to display names

Now, everyone gets a display name in Teams. Even people you chat with outside your organization. So, you'll no longer have to remember that long email address when looking for an old conversation, simply search for the person by name. I personally missed it a lot. Enhances user experience significantly.
